A final decision on the policy is months away, according to the report.

But the writer had big problems with a painting by Harlem artist “Tafa”. It depicts an upside down Christ-like figure with a face strongly resembling Osama Bin Laden. So when the two older boys attacked, she was ready.

The girl punched one of the older boys in the face, knocking him to the ground.

When the other bad guy came at her, the girl kicked him in the groin and dislocated his shoulder.

I love that she was able to take care of herself. If I recall, JoeDaYuz has a story like this from his youth, though it ended with him getting pepper spray in the face.

He died 10 days later after suffering the same symptoms, officials said.Iraqi health authorities began killing domestic birds in northern Iraq, which borders Turkey, where at least 21 cases of the deadly virus have been detected. Turkey and Iraq also lie on a migratory path for numerous species of birds.”We regretfully announce that the first case of bird flu has appeared in Iraq,” Iraqi Health Minister Abdel Mutalib Mohammed told reporters in the Kurdistan city of Sulaimaniyah, 160 miles northeast of Baghdad. 

Mohammed made the announcement after receiving results from a laboratory in Egypt that conducted tests on the girl, who died Jan. 17.

 

Much like a Fark contest, I want someone to tell me how to blame this on George W. Bush; not any further spread of the disease, as that is too easy the prospect of a bird flu outbreak in Iraq is especially alarming because the country is gripped by armed insurgency, but rather the initial infection and death of this girl and maybe the uncle.  Jake, I’m counting on you to come up with something good! 

I have two thoughts on the recent miners’ tragedy.

I am suprised, that Casey has not written anything about it yet, as she has somewhat of a history on this subject. I really can not write anything meaningful, and hers is an opinion I would want to see the most, if she chooses to write of it.

The second seems glib, or at least making political hay out of a tragedy, but it needs to be noted. I am appalled at the way main stream media, newspapers and cable news, are backpedaling. They reported 12 miners survived, only to find out a few hours later that it was indeed 12 dead.

They operated on faulty intellegence. Sound familiar? Not that the administration should be let of lightly for the WMD mess, but given the venom by which the MSM attacked the admin, should they not be issuing the most giant mea culpa, this is unacceptable, we apologise to the familes, etc ever?

Personally, I believe swinging should be kept at home, not paid for in a club, but I’m old fashioned that way.

This is probably a silly question, but if you send a nicely-worded correction to a very popular web columnist about 20 minutes after they publish their article, should they respond to your e-mail with a wee “thanks” or something?

What about if it is the second time you’ve corrected their silly military mistakes via a DOD computer, and both times their article has quickly reflected the correction? Do you then get a note? I don’t know the etiquette, so I’m just axing.
